Welcome
Welcome to Ken Cooper-Stephenson's website. The site is constructed and researched independently by Wildwood, England. The intention is to provide information about Ken, and to enable contact with him.

Ken now resides close to Deep Cove in North Shore Vancouver and, although technically retired, he has recently co-authored a new edition of his landmark publication Personal Injury Damages in Canada.

About Ken Cooper-Stephenson
Ken was born in Scotland, and qualifies to wear the Cooper tartan illustrated below. He grew up and was educated in England, with close family still in that country - in Bedfordshire and London. He obtained law degrees from both London University and Cambridge, and was subsequently a founding member of the Law Department at Leicester University, where he taught from 1966 - 71.

Ken emigrated to Saskatoon, Canada, in 1971, and took up his Canadian Citizenship in 1978. From 1971 to 2009 he was a member of the law faculty at the University of Saskatchewan. In 2011 he was appointed to the faculty at the new law school at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops. He has also been an occasional visiting professor at other law schools around the world.

Ken is an internationally recognized expert in tort law and personal injury damages, and also writes in the area of human rights and legal theory. In 2000 he was Chair of the legislative committee that reviewed Saskatchewan's no-fault auto-accident plan. Ken also worked with the Assembly of First Nations on a solution to the problem of abuse in Canada's Residential Schools.

Outside Interests
Outside the workplace, Ken's interests include craftsmanship with wood, particularly oak; international travel; lawn and garden care; and a dabble in 3D photography. He still exercises strenuously. He plays a mean game of tennis, but remains embarrassingly challenged by golf. Until recently he also played some soccer. His more sedate, couch-potato interests include reading, and watching movies and sports on TV.
